Soft Power: Practicing Ahimsa in a World That Hustles Hard
This week, we don’t push...we pause. We choose radical compassion over quiet self-harm. Let’s explore the strength in softness.
OM…Let’s Be Real
Opening Thoughts✨
Kindness isn’t always loud or obvious. Sometimes it’s the invisible choice to look deeper, to see the wound beneath the reaction, the fatigue behind the silence, the effort inside the mess. It’s choosing to believe someone is doing the best they can, even when it doesn’t look graceful. That belief? It’s a quiet kind of love. And it counts. Every single time.

The Yamas: 5 Gateways to Moral Disiplinces
In yogic philosophy, the Yamas are the first of the 8 Limbs of Yoga, the foundation. Think of them as sacred guardrails for how we relate to the world around us. They aren’t commandments. They’re invitations.
There are five Yamas:
1. Ahimsa – Non-harming
2. Satya – Truthfulness
3. Asteya – Non-stealing
4. Brahmacharya – Moderation / Energy integrity
5. Aparigraha – Non-attachment
We begin with Ahimsa, not because it’s easy, but because it’s essential.
It sets the tone for all the rest.
Ahimsa isn’t just about not doing harm. It’s about actively choosing compassion, moment by moment.
It’s embedded in how we touch the earth with our feet, how we move through conflict, how we rest and recover, how we hold ourselves in the quiet moments.
Practicing Ahimsa may look like:
• Skipping a vinyasa and resting in child’s pose
• Saying no to one more task when your body says it’s done
• Unfollowing accounts that trigger comparison spirals
• Speaking truthfully, without cruelty
• Choosing movement that honors your energy, not your ego
This is the yoga that happens off the mat, the kind that shapes how we show up in the world.
Ahimsa is a choice to live gently and fiercely, all at once.

Do No Harm: The Art of Ahimsa
In this beautiful article by Yoga International, author Mado Hesselink explores what it really means to “do no harm” as a modern yogi. It invites us to look at Ahimsa not as an abstract ideal, but as a living, breathing practice we engage with in the messiness of life.
From social justice to self-talk, the article examines how yoga’s first ethical limb shows up in our choices, our discomfort, and our daily rituals. You’ll find real-world insight on how to embody this principle both on and off the mat, especially when it’s hard.

What’s Blooming?🌸(Upcoming Events)
Here’s what’s blooming in our sacred garden this month…
June 1 – SoulStretch Sundays
Sacred shedding. Soul reclamation. Movement & reflection.
June 6 – Vibes & Vinyasa
It’s movement medicine for your mind, body, and soul.
& One More Thing✌️
You don’t have to understand someone to be kind to them. And you don’t need anyone’s permission to extend that same grace to yourself. Compassion isn’t earned…it’s practiced. Start with you.
